Bowen’s disease

History

          A 66-year-old man presented with an asymptomatic, erythematous, partially crusted, indurated plaque with well-demarcated polycyclic border involved the right shoulder area (upper back) of more than 5 years duration. Biopsy was consistent with Bowen’s disease.

Truncal erythema multiforme

History

          A 35-year-old man presented with bilateral, symmetrical, red, urticated papules and plaques, many of which have targetoid appearance, of one week duration.  Interestingly, the rash was confined to the sides of the trunk. No previous history of preceding infection or drug intake. Two weeks later all lesions have subsided.

Perniosis (Chilblains)

History

       A teenager male suffered frequent episodes of painful and pruritic, dusky-red, edematous plaques involved the distal parts of the feet during last three winter seasons. Other parts of the body were not affected and each episode lasts about 3-4 weeks and spontaneously disappears.

Relapsing Polychondritis

History

          A 48-year-old man suffered recurrent inflammatory episodes of the ear confined characteristically to the cartilaginous part of the external ear (note sparing of the ear lobe) of three years duration. He presented with painful and tender swelling of the ear, however other cartilage-containing structures like the nose, larynx and thoracic cage were not involved.

History

          A 19-year-old female presented one day after intake of an unidentified medication a severe bullous rash appeared on the face, limbs and less on the trunk. Many mucosal orifices were also involved like the mouth, nose and conjunctivae resulted in dysphagia and photophobia. On examination, the patient was febrile and in a bad general condition.
