A 20-year-old male had a few grouped lesions of molluscum contagiosum on the neck of 3-4 weeks duration. The lesions had been removed aggressively through electrocautery by an unexperienced medical substaff person. Few weeks later a large pinkish-red, ugly-looking scar appeared at site of cautery.
A 20-year-old male presented with a polymorphic rash composed of inflammatory follicular papules, pustules, abscesses, nodules and cysts involved mainly the trunk of more than one year duration. Negative history of corticosteroids or other drugs. Topical and systemic antibiotics gave modest results, however shifting the patient to isotretinoin resulted in prompt and dramatic response.
A 45-year-old man has had long history of lichen simplex chronicus at the right lower leg of > 5 years duration. At last one and a half year an ulcer has developed and progressed slowly. O/E, an ulcer about 12X7 cm with an irregular outline, clean red base and punched out border surrounded by thickened dyspigmented skin was seen. Incisional biopsy revealed SCC.
A 35-year-old man presented with an itchy, red, scaly rash involved the butterfly region of the face of two months duration. The rash had an active slightly elevated scaly border and clear center. KOH smear showed fungal elements. Cure was obtained through 6 weeks course of griseofulvin 500 mg twice daily.
A 16-year-old male patient has had an asymptomatic solitary rounded spongy compressible vascular nodule in the forehead close to frontal hair line since birth. The nodule has deep purplish hue. Based on clinical background, the lesion was diagnosed as a case of cavernous hemangioma which is a misnomer as it is not a neoplasm but rather a congenital venous malformation.
The mother of the this 5-year-old girl has noticed that many irregular smooth map-like patches of depapillated areas on the dorsum of the tongue of her daughter of about two years duration. She also stated that these patches were rapidly changing their shapes, sites and sizes. The girl had no history of psoriasis or any other related disease.
A 62-year-old woman had been diagnosed as BCC of the scalp 3 years ago treated with curettage and cautery at that time. After 2 years of treatment a new ulcer appeared at the site of previous treatment and within one year a rodent ulcer with a rolled up irregular border of about 7 cm diameter was established. Incisional biopsy proved ulcerative BCC.
A 52-year-old man complained a very itchy skin lesion on the front of the ankle of his left foot. The itching was paroxysmal and severe. On examination, there was a well-defined, thickened and hyperpigmented large plaque with exaggerated skin lines spreading across the front of the ankle region.
