Pemphigus vulgaris

A 63-year-old woman presented with painful erosions, flaccid blisters and some residual hyperpigmentation of many months duration. The rash involved mainly the trunk and proximal parts of the extremities with minimal oral involvement. Skin biopsy of newly formed blister showed supra-basal intraepidermal blister with mixed inflammatory infiltrate.DSC05408_edited DSC05412_edited

Chronic benign bullous dermatosis of childhood

History

           A 6-year-old male suffered a widespread severely pruritic bullous rash of 8 months duration. On examination tense bullae on erythematous bases involved the face, trunk and extremities. However, the mucous membranes were spared. Prompt response was noticed few days after starting therapy with dapsone 2 mg per kg per day.

Bullous pemphigoid

History

          A 65-year-old old woman presented with widespread tense bullae on erythematous backgrounds involved mainly the lower limbs of three months duration. There was no mucosal involvement and skin biopsy showed subepidermal bullae filled with eosinophils and neutrophils.
